Good post & bang on. I think Gretz recently said that Toews then Kopitar are the top 2 complete players now.

Yak had high expectations on him and joining a team whose Fans have been suffering for years just increased the pressure. He never really was given a chance to excel but the way Eakins has used him has been sad to watch.

As for trading him, there's no way I'd do that now. His value is far too low, our season is lost and so the return on him won't be much help. Hopefully Eakins gets replaced with an experienced head coach who can offer Yak a "fresh" start.

A couple things, Defense wins games. And Stamkos is better than Ovie at anything.

What? You win a hockey game by scoring goals. Winning 2-1 with a great defence is the same as winning 9-6 with a great offence. Yak would benefit from a team that has a decent defence so he can skate and not worry, not the high school calibre one Edmonton has. Or at least something like Ovie had a few years back when he could do whatever and the Caps still one. Great article!

"Cold streaks have seen Carter lapse on goals for double digit games at times"

Um, Jason, please, leave it to ME to not do the research.

Jeff Carter has never gone more than 8 games without scoring a goal since joining the Kings

This season: 6 games
2013-14: 8 games (just once)
2012-13: 5 games
2011-12: 4 games

Now that we have cap space, what are your speculation on how it is used?

Will they just wait for some more misfortune?

With Amart coming back soon will Mcbain go to a 7th man role?

Or will they make a move?

Personally I would rather have Ebert up and send Mcbain down but that is not how D.L rolls.

Just curious as to what you thought might happen now.

sup Richard kicker....what do you think of McBain? I think he's starting to fit in pretty good. What is it that you like better with Ebert?

I'm a fan of Ebert as well but no reason to rush things right now.

I think Mcbain is pretty decent, one of those guys that if you don't call his name then he is doing a stellar job. I like Ebert because he looked real good in the pre season. fast skater, good positioning, not afraid to shoot, good stick handling skills. I think this kid might blow Voynov out of the water someday. But like Jason and I am sure D.L. is saying "no need to rush"

I do think it seems at times defensive hockey is more important than offensive numbers.
"One-dimensional" players do get way too much hate now. It is so important to be able to score. there's no room for 5 on 5 goals.

I didn't give him much attention pre season but I have heard his name mentioned here and there so I was curious where your thoughts were on him......I would have guessed D Forbort would be first in line for a call up.

Taking it one step further, if she was that much trouble to him, why did he bother to begin with? I never understood that type of thinking. It's pretty easy to detect whether or not someone is going to drive you insane before you say "I do". Of course, that doesn't warrant the use of any sort of verbal abuse or domestic violence, but he should have seen some signs beforehand.
